I wonder if there was a deluxe model that had a straight driveshaft?
Or maybe it was picked up by the same joker who many years ago winched my old Daimler car onto his tilt tray by hooking his winchrope onto the tierod.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,

Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

We just tipped carrots off the back of a truck into the feed shute. They came out the other end onto a sorting table with 2 bagging shutes ,then bagged into 20 kg bags

This little ugly bug comes from the BMC part of the Leyland empire. It's a BMC EA serie coming as a walk-through cab with
low mounted engine (4 cyl, 2.5 lit. , petrol or diesel). In fact, the deep roots of this truck are from the Austin/Morris division
of BMC. This ugly but pratical straight body sides van give high payloads and the Royal Mail was a large user of them.

.A little reconditioning story...............
Many moons ago we used to go to the Milperinka area to a sheep property where we did a bit of metal detecting
for gold, purely as a recreation sort of thingo ........Its a pretty desolate type of country, white quarts on the ground
as far as the eye can see, and the main fodder for sheep being saltbush .........
As well as the sheep , goats are an income being rounded up with ultralights and bikes about twice yearly on average.
Anyway this time we set up camp then go for a bit of a scout around, about 20 ks away we come onto a freshly graded
track ,so we thinks lets follow this for a while and see what happens.........
Next thing we come onto the station grader , an old model D Alice Chalmers of sorts, its perched up in the middle
of the track where it had stopped work . The difference here is that the donk had been pulled apart and bits were
spread around the ground all covered in dust. a further look showed the liners were out of the little four cylinder
donk and were nowhere in sight.

NMP....but the grader was similar to this.............

.
.That inspection over, we choofed off to to have a look at some more country...................
Occasionally the owner would drop in to our camp site with his ultralite to have a beer and a bit of a natter,
so we said whats going on with the grader.........when doing the station tracks ,at the end of the day the operator
would radio in,then someone would go out and pick him up, leaving the thing where it had stopped til next day
when he would just carry on............Well this next day the donk would not turn over, so after much fiddleing about
they decide it must be a hydraulic lock, so off comes the head, and sure enough, thats it............
They rip it apart on the road and find some worm holes in a liner (from electrolysis).........
So out with all the liners ,back to the workshop, out with the electric welder , then all the worm holes are given
a quick zap and covered up. After an inspection and a quick hone , the liners appear ok, .
Out they go ,throw it back together after dusting of all the bits ,Old rings reused ....no new parts other than
gaskets and liner seals.....then it carries on grading where it left off.............
Our next trip back was about four years later and the old Alice was still going strong........

There was an old grader parked beside the Birdsville Track back in the 70's through to early 90's that was left where it stopped.

The sump had a hole in the side of it and as long as they graded the bore drain the right way all was well.

One day a new chum graded the wrong way and the oil drained out and seized the engine.

They never bothered to try and fix it. It would be classic case of a stitch in time.

No idea of the make but some of the Members here must remember it.
