When I used to do a bit of work for Telecom workshop at Coopers Plains,there was always a rubbish bin full of brand new float tyres with one big flatspot on them

When did you folks Down Under start going to 4 axle trailers?? A rule change on on weights for axle groups??? How do they handle?? What about tire / suspension wear when turning??

4 axle trailers had a brief stint back in the 70's but vanished pretty quickly, I think the rules changed and the benefits vanished
At a guess I would say around five years ago they made a come back, Im unsure what the extra weight is as I believe its a case by case type deal were the owner takes full responsibility for the trailer etc under our mass management laws, could have that wrong

Quad axle trailers explained here:

Basically 50 tonnes GVM for single tralier; 77 tonnes for B double if both trailers have quad axles.

Note rear axle of each quad must be steerable
