Why is it that if we have an extended period of dry weather, then it rains, the roads become very slippery?

My view is that there are small amounts of oil, coolant, rubber etc dropped on the road. When it rains it becomes slimy for a time. I advise bike riders to be particularly careful for about the first 20 minutes of a rain event. Eventually there is enough rain to rinse the road clean and it flows to the rivers so we can drink it. Next time it rains, wander out to the middle of the lane (safely) and wipe your hand on the bitumen
Of course in suburbs with lots of kids the surface is much grippier, you know baby shit sticks to anything, right?

Yep fluids from other vehicles get dumped on the ground and when it rains it brings any oils to the surface and then look out. Rubber that gets laid down on the raod aids in traction. Watch any car, bike or truck race and times get quicker as the race goes on and not only because of lighter fuel loads. All those little balls of rubber on a F1 track make it slippery as hell but on the driving line the ruber is pushed into the surface and you gain traction.

On another topic, there has been talk of different trailer combinations that we are seeing. Yesterday on a trip up the coast, (NSW), I noticed something different. The first was a 45' tri axle tipper towing a tri axle pig trailer connected with a ring feeder. I then noticed several others with flat beds or taut liners but didn't have the chance to see whether they were ring-feeders or Bartlett balls.

My question is this, are they classed as B doubles or road trains, as the connection is well behind the suspension of the first trailer?
