Cobba I unload my mini ex the same way from the tandem pig trailer. I was meaning fixed earth loading ramps in my previous.
a set of hydraulic drop down ramps would be ideal normally but given how high the tipper is its not practical.

Mrs M I'll have to look further into it with regards to who does the engineering here. can you have maxi's on the trailer axle as your brake away? if it becomes detached you loose air and the spring brakes come on?

Cheers Jacko

Yes maxi's are all you need if your having airbrakes

You will need to make sure you have q tractor protection valve on the truck, my brother has a late model European truck and it never had one fitted

There is other type of brake away protection for none air braked trailers

I want to build a single axle tag trailer to carry my backhoe behind my 1400 Isuzu tipper (currently put it on the back but its a pain needing a loading ramp at each end to get it off)

What will be my biggest hurdle rego and machinery wise (QLD)? the construction is not a problem as we have all the gear and shed space.

Cheers in advance.

Jacko.

If you're building a new Trailer It MUST have either ABS Brakes or a Load proportioning Valve fitted..

Other consideration is that to tow a heavier trailer you may have to pay more rego on the truck.

might be better off finding an older trailer and rebuilding it to how I want then rather than going through the hassle.

just as an aside what other choices are there for brakes at 9t? electric?

Cheers

20(plus) years ago I used to regularly see around the Southern Highlands a Tipper with a Backhoe in the Back & He would be Towing what looked like a Modified Car Trailer with an expanded mesh Floor set up as portable Loading ramp. From memory didn't appear to much heavier than a car Trailer, can't remember the Specifics of It Though..

Why do tow truck drivers disconnect the tailshaft in the truck they are towing?

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

Tis a big no no. Modern heavy vehicles have a gearbox with an oil pump driven by the input gear so towing in neutral equals no oil.

After the advent of alternators on things we had to disconnect the alternator when arc welding on what ever had the alternator fitted to stop the collapsing magnectic field popping the recifier in the alternator

Is this still needed to be done when using a MIG welder ?
