I'm looking for some local knowledge in eastern Victoria.
Does anyone know if the road from Bruthen to Corryong is sealed all the way? We are looking at riding through Omeo, Benambra and Nariel.

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

Thanks Steve, looks like we're on plan C now. Any gravel on this section? www.google.com.au/maps/dir/bruthen/Talla...933136!2d-36.2194035
We usually do a Snowy Mountains ride over summer but not going into NSW this year due to covid.

That section looks OK.
Bit of a hint for Victoria - not useful for broad scale planning, but if you go to the Vic Emergency app (best do it on a PC) and zoom in on their maps you can get extremely good detail from the fire agencies very own Spatial Vision topo maps.
For eg. your first route (Bruthen to Corryong) shows dirt from Uplands (just north of Benambra) till Staceys Bridge (Nariel Valley.)

We found a cupla watering holes to wet the whistle, thanks.

Thanks for the local knowledge, you were spot on. The road from Omeo to Tallangatta is a very windy road and perfect on a motorcycle. Turns out I know a bloke with a property on the Corryong road, so we'll be having a butchers sometime soon.
Allan
Thank you for the tip on the Vic Emergency site, that was what I was looking for.

A question for anyone out there who has built there own trailers....

I want to build a single axle tag trailer to carry my backhoe behind my 1400 Isuzu tipper (currently put it on the back but its a pain needing a loading ramp at each end to get it off)

What will be my biggest hurdle rego and machinery wise (QLD)? the construction is not a problem as we have all the gear and shed space.

Cheers in advance.

Jacko.

The weight over a single axle is the first problem I can think of. You can have tandem axles and still have it tilt to avoid the ramp issue or if you are a good opertor you need no ramps at all. Front bucket on trailer deck, pick up rear of hoe with the back hoe and push yourself on. Opposite to unload.
Saw an operator unload his mini excavator off the tip truck this wy with no ramps, just takes practise.

As on getting registered?

Not a lot of drama as far as I know

You will need break away protection
And it will need some sort of a engineering type of rubber stamp unless you just tell them its such and such
Stamp a chassis number on and leave it for the rego people to work it out, and just act dumb, I'm pretty good at that part

I can take trailers in with no plates (number plate or compliance plate) and get them registered
If you were to elude that it is over a certain age you wont need a weigh bridge docket either

I just get it road worthied and turn up with the paper work and trailer and act dumb, works every time so far
