The poster was enquiring about a Dennis fire engine at Wingham, so I suspect that is that vehicle and where the photo was taken.

As for the car, it may the UK based model prior to the Freeway/24-80, the first of the Farina designed models. There was a 4 cyl Austin (A55?) and Morris Oxford versions, and a larger 6 cyl Austin and Wolsely type. My memory is fading from that far back but I recall the Wolsely had the stumpy taillights like this when the others had more pronounced fins.

I think it's a Studebaker Transtar, with a diesel going by the badge on the front. May be the one previously owned by the late Maurice Brockwell.

Yes, Maurice's Detroit powered unit.

Sweet - Flickr seems to have fixed their problem...some other fire units @ Dardanup

Fantastic looking vehicle.

Having lived through a pandemic I now understand all the painting of fat people on couches!

G'Day All,

Does anyone knows whether there are any surviving Albion fie fighting trucks in Oz or NZ? Some of my Israeli contacts are in the process of restoring the oldest surviving fire truck in Israel, an early 30s Albion (see pics - apparently the Israeli Fire Fighting Services approved a budget for the restoration, they already got the engine running after it stood for 40 years) and they would like to find out how many are left out there...

Much obliged to any answers.

Cheers

T
