I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

I may have told you this one before but too bad. It is true.
A while before my Wife's Stepmother passed away we visited her in hospital. We had almost two hours' drive home and about ten kilometres from home, a loud alarm started sounding. We had not heard it before so I stopped and checked all around the car, under the bonnet and all the lights. The brakes and steering seemed OK. I could not find anything wrong so drove cautiously home. My Wife asked what was wrong and what would happen to the car if I did not fix the problem. I said I have no idea, we will have to hope we get home and I will try to find the problem tomorrow in daylight. Less than one kilometre from home we passed a Police officer conducting random alcohol tests. Wife asked what are we going to tell him if he stops us and queries the alarm? I replied that I would tell him I would walk back and tell him what it was. He did not stop us so we continued home.
When we got home my Wife took the bag of things her Stepmother gave her and went to unlock he house while I collected purchases to take inside. The alarm stopped to my relief but my Wife came back and said the alarm followed her into the house. We emptied the bag from the hospital and found Stepmother's alarm clock ringing it head off.
Neither of us could understand why she would have taken an alarm clock to hospital in the first place.

Paul’s posts on robbers and disguises brought to mind when everyone around here had sheep, a horse float was an inconspicuous method for a short time of moving a few bales of wool.

How the banking system works. If you think too hard about this it will hurt your head but it is absolutely true.
