Even with O rings ,condensation leaking from the cylinders will lock them in........before the motor is disabled, penetrating solution with a hot engine is the secret....kero is good enough............dont strip the thread ,you will find out how expensive these late injectors are........turning back and forth is a sensible way..........some motors have tubes expanded into the head, and if you pull these with the injectors, expect trouble.

Is it possible to eject one without damage by running the engine with the retainer backed off slightly?

So an air hammer was the answer.

Bronze bush to protect the thread and gave it a good long rattle with a fairly dodgey air chisel. Wether it helped get the Inox into the right place or just broke up some of the rust with shock, once I'd remade the puller with new threads, number 1 injector did succumb to the effort.

The part number has been ground off the injector, I guess to avoid confusion if the guts has been changed in the past.

Now the injection people have the pump they've found six broken springs just for starters. Apparently they're now "looking overseas" for parts to rebuild the pump.

Anyone know of a source of parts/pumps for a Bosch VE series? 0 460 426 022 is the number...

So the pump is fixed finally. New housing from Germany & new hydraulic head from somewhere equally exotic... I'll leave you blokes to imagine the fearlessness exercised in invoicing.

The sticking point now is injectors... apparently they're obsolete.

New parts were ordered, but however correct these nozzles are for a 6354t, they don't fit the injectors I've removed. Might have something to do with the last bloke carefully grinding the Bosch part number off the casings.

Those very helpful characters at The Rock tractor service reckon that $150 will buy a brand new injector for a 1004? Perkins and that will do the trick, but the guys with the injection pump workshop argue that near enough isn't good enough... and I'm sort of inclined to believe them.

Does anyone have some part numbers for me to hunt? Or a good explaination of how critical or otherwise it might be to have the perfect injector nozzle pattern...

Cheers

Maybe Engines Australia in Brisbane. I've been buying older Mazda / Perkins parts off them.

I think you will find that Umbacks at The Rock have forgotten more about Perkins engines than most other people would know.
3rd generation of Perkins specialists .
Would trust their knowledge above and beyond anyone else!!!

What's your engine number? Make sure you get the right nozzles, because if the spray pattern is wrong, you risk engine damage. The actual nozzles should have a number on them. If you can get onto a parts list for your particular engine, you should be able to cross their number over to a Bosch number.

I have done some digging and I reckon old mate before you has fitted Phaser/1000 series injectors. This will probably explain your smoke issue. The 354's, according to my book, only had CAV/Delphi injectors, where as the 1000 series could have either Bosch or CAV/Delphi. The 354 injector has the clamp integral to the nozzle holder body, where as the 1000 series has it as a separate piece.

The book says the 1000 series injectors have a two letter code stamped just below the nut which holds the high pressure fuel line on. If you can get me those letters, I can look up the numbers for you. Failing that, get yourself a set of second hand 354 injectors and get the new nozzles you already have fitted to them.

The injectors I've removed are Bosch I'm sure. 9 figure number is ground off but the Germany stamping remains. They have lines into the top, bleeder banjo fitting on the side & a semicircle saddle arrangement to hold them down.

Here are a few number I've found stamped on it. I'll try pictures in another post. Last one didnt show up?

Cheers
